LOCATION: From Business Highway 83 in Mercedes, drive south on US 491 (Rio Rico Road) two miles to Del Rio Road (just before bridge across Arroyo Colorado). Turn west 1/3 mile to cemetery entrance.

HISTORY: Ebony Grove Cemetery occupies 8.9 acres at the southeast city limits in a bend of the Arroyo Colorado American Rio Grande Land & Irrigation Company (ARGL&I), developers of Mercedes (founded 1904) and a 250,000 acre irrigation system in eastern Hidalgo County, gave the land to the Mercedes Cemetery Association in 1922 and 1925. The cemetery was dedicated July 25, 1928. It is maintained by the Mercedes Cemetery Association.
