Graveside services for Christopher Paul Saunders, 61, of Alba, are scheduled for 12:00 noon Thursday, May 22, at Pilgrim Rest No. 2 Cemetery, Golden, with Father Pat Hanser officiating, under direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home of Alba.

Mr. Saunders passed away Sunday, May 18, at his residence.

He was born July 24, 1946, in Sacramento, Calif., to the late Jack and Winifred Buckley Saunders.

He served in the Air Force as a Security Policeman and drove a truck for 35 years. The last ten years he drove for Marten Transport in Mondovie, Wisc. He was a Catholic and a volunteer fireman for the Courtland, California Fire Department. He lived most of his life in California with a short period in Colorado prior to moving to Alba 12 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Kendrick Saunders of Alba; son, James Stradley of Kissimmee, Fla.; daughters, Tammy Becker of Alba and Teri Foster of Emory; brothers, Rocky Saunders and Bruce Saunders, both of Sacramento, Calif., and Rick Saunders of Utah; sister, Pam Deitrich of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren, Brian, Vickie, Syrina, Zack, and Amber; two great grandchildren, Jackson and Joshua.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. ~ ~ ~ Rains County Leader, Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Funeral services for Janie Parker, 72, of Mineola will be held Wednesday, July 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest No.2 Baptist Church, Golden, with Bro. Jim Parker and Rev. Ken Whiteen officiating.  Burial will follow in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery No.2, Golden, under the direction Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home of Alba.  Pallbearers will be Lane Rodgers, Rip Rodgers, Shaun Rodgers, Chris Harpold, Alex Gonzales and David WHitten.  Mrs. Parker died Saturday, July 15, at Hospice of East Texas Homeplace, Tyler.  She was born in Petty (Lamar Count) on May 4, 1934 to Sammie James and Lorene Welch Raper.  She spend her early years in Anton and lived the past 36 years in Mineola.  Mrs. Parker was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Grand Saline; and was active in the Women's Missionary Auxiliary in her church.  She was a housewife.  She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rocky and Shelia Parker of Mineola and Roger and Michelle Parker of Tyler; a daughter, Rose Parker of Golden; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bobby Gerald Raper and a sister, JoAnn Whiten.

Funeral services for Nannie Ida Brown, 87, of Alba were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 2, at Pilgrim Rest #2 Baptist Church in Golden, with Bro. Louis Strehlow and Bro. James Spurgeon officiating.   Burial was in Pilgrim Rest #2 Cemetery, Golden, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home of Alba. Pallbearers were Tony Russell, Curtis Brown, Jack Brown, Don Brown, Dale Brown, and Benny Brown.  Mrs. Brown died Friday, April 29, at The Heritage Nursing Home, Quitman.  She was born September 11, 1917, in Wood County to Charley K. and Eddie Murdock Robinson.  She lived all of her life in the Golden area. She was a member of Pilgrim Rest #2 Baptist Church, and she was a homemaker.  She is survived by a niece, Polly Scrimshire of Longview; brother-in-law, Mark Brown of Denton; sister-in-law, Maydelle Buie of Mineola; and other nieces and nephews on the Brown side of the family.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, D.T. Brown; brother, Basel B. Robinson; and two sisters, Marie M. Odell and LaVera Wilson.

Funeral services for Bobbie Nell Thomason, 78, of Cleburne, were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. John Hall officiated.  Burial followed in the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Alba with the Rev. Mark Thompson officiating at the graveside.  Serving as pallbearers were Sam Thomason, Jr., Chris Fagan, Jeff Fagan, Eric Green, James McCormack and Dwayne McCormack.  The deacons of the Alba First Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.  Bobbie Nell Thomason passed away on Friday, February 17, 2006 in Cleburne.  She was born in the Bright Star Community in Rains County on October 6, 1927, to Cortez Eads and Alice Naveda Smiley Eads.  She married Samuel A. Thomason on December 12, 1945, in Dallas.  Bobbie retired as a key punch operator for Frito Lay after 13 years of service.  She was a member of Field Street Baptist Church.  She is survived by her husband, Samuel A. Thomason of Cleburne; son, Sammy N. Thomason and wife, Glinda, of Lufkin; daughter, Bobbie Michelle Fagan and husband, Norman, of Cleburne; grandsons, Christopher A. Fagan of Stephenville, Sam N. Thomason, Jr. of Richland Hills, and Jeffrey W. Fagan of Cleburne; granddaughters, Lisa Foster of Lufkin and DeAnne M. Fagan of Brady; and sister, Lucy Elizabeth Magee of Alba.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Glennell Eads, Aileen Barbee and JoAnn Fulton and brothers, Ellis Dee Eads and Billy Boy Eads.

Graveside services for Roy Travis Brumit, Sr., 82, of Alba, were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 26, with Bro. Robert Stovall officiating.  Burial was in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery No. 2, Golden, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home.  Mr. Brumit died Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at Country Trails Care Center, Grand Saline.  He was born on September 19, 1923, in Honey Grove.  Mr. Brumit lived in Alba since 1988.  He was a farmer and a Baptist.  He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Wanda Brumit, Jr. of Garland, and Thomas and Erica Brumit of Nevada; three daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and James Bryant of Mesquite, Debra and Roy Scott of Brownsboro, and Myra and Robert Dennis of Corsicana; brother, Buford Brumit of Galveston; three sisters, Ethel Jenellie and Estelle Groves of Edgewood, and Bertha Groves of Texas City; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sophia Appleton Brumit; brothers, Troy Brumit, Paul Brumit, and J.W. Brumit; and sister, Irene Bailey.

Douglas Johnson Jr.

Services for Charles Douglas Johnson Jr., 7, of Mineola were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Sand Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Stovall and Bro. Wade Eddie officiating.  Burial was in Pilgrim Rest No. 2 Cemetery, Golden, under the direction of Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola.  Master Johnson died March 18 in a Quitman hospital.  He was born Sept. 24, 1997, in Tyler. He was in the first grade at Alba-Golden ISD, and was active in pee-wee football and soccer in Mineola, and basketball and baseball in Alba.  Survivors include his parents, Charles Douglas Sr. and Shelley Annette Perkins Johnson of Mineola; sister, Alexis Paige Johnson of Mineola; grandparents, Carolyn Johnson of Rowlett, Linda Perkins of Grand Saline, and William Perkins of Emory; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services for Virginia Ann Jones, 73, of Golden were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at San Springs Baptist Church, Mineola, with Bro. Jim Parker officiating.  Burial was at Pilgrim Rest No.2, Golden, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.  Pallbearers were Nathan Jones, Mitchell Jones, Lonnie Jones, MIke West, Jody West, Heith Galyean, Josh Galyean, Jason Jones, and Dusty Jones.  Mrs. Jones died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at ETMC-Tyler.  She was born on August 14, 1932, in GOlden.  She lived all of her life in Wood County and was an owner/operator of a restaurant.  She was a member of Pilgrim Rest #2 Baptist Church.  She is survived by four sons and their spouses, Lynn and Becky Jones of Alba, Phil and Sue Jones of Golden, Ricky and Paula Jones of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Dural Jones of California; daughter and husband, Twanda and Darrell Galyean of Golden; brother, Jerry and Helen Hudgins of Grand Saline; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey E. and Myrtie P. Ferguson Murdock; husband, Alvis Jones; daughter, Ann West on December 5, 2005; brother, Wayne Murdock; and sister, Vallie Murdock.
