Location: Take 59 South out of Carthage to
2517, turn to the left on FM 2517. Church
(Before) is on intersection of FM 2517 and CR 469N.
This cemetery is the burial place of Lenzie S. Wells, the Judge (famous or infamous) and the "King" of the Kangaroo Court. This was a fun pass-time and was held whenever people got together. His marker is about 4 feet tall and has the seal of TX engraved on it.
Memorial Day for both the Scott Cemetery
and Panola Baptist Church (now) is the first Sunday in June, at
the church. The annual business meeting for the Scott Cemetery Association is conducted at
the church, after services on that day.-
