LOWER WILLOW CREEK CEMETERY
Mason Co. Cemeteries of Texas
Carol Martin <shootfor8@moment.net>
This listing is from some of my own records, visits to the cemetery, the ‘Mason County Historical Book’, the book ‘One Hundred Years of the Hilda (Bethel) Methodist Church and Parent Organizations’, and the book ‘Mason County Graves and Cemeteries’.
By these records, the oldest burial would be that of Joanna (Lehmberg) Leifeste in 1854.
According to the book ‘One Hundred Years of the Hilda (Bethel) Methodist Church and Parent Oraganizations’ - Rev. C. A. Grote began visiting his members (of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South) along the Llano River in 1852.
The Lower Willow Creek Methodist Church (a rock bldg.) was built across the creek, from the cemetery, in 1868.
LOCATION
3.5 miles East of TX Hwy. 87, 2/10 of a mile (measured from pasture gate) off Lower Willow Creek Rd. - on the north bank of the Llano River and near the mouth of the Lower Willow Creek.
