The notes below were posted on a board at the cemetery:

The following list contains names of people believed to be buried here at Mayes Chapel. This list will be updated as new information is received. We were given copies of two surveys conducted by volunteers several years ago. The survey done in 1965 has several people listed that today there is no visual evidence of their graves.

We have also listed people that through conversations and research would lead you to believe that there is a good possibility that they are buried here.

Lloyd Fleming, Jr. - 3 months old. No sign of grave

Graham - The grave sites listed as #12 and #13, are thought to be Graham children. One could be Clifford Graham 15 years old and the other could be a Graham child 4 years old. They are supposedly two of John & Etta Graham's twelve children. There is a cement curb around the graves.

R.A. King - b. March 24, 1834 d. June 6, 1887, the 1965 survey shows Mr. King's grave here with a flag on it.

Carter Mentor - Died 1930 at 33 years of age. County clerks records show burial here, but there is no sign of a grave.

Owens - Site #4. 1965 survey shows Frances Elizabeth Owens b. June 30, 1887 d. July 8, 1899. Also speaks of a broken stone reading 1898 daughters of C.D. (Charles Dale) Owens and M.E. Owens.

J.W. Rhodes - b. August 19, 1848 d. February 6, 1883. Born in Cherokee Co., Alabama. This was in the 1965 survey.

G.B. Summers - Died January 11, 1895. This was in the 1965 survey. The later survey tells of a stone laying flat on the ground broken with the January 11, 1895 deathdate. Site #26 has this stone.

Victoria Summers - b. 1862 d. 1935. Some records suggest she is buried here. No confirmation.

Russell Ward - b. January 31, 1837 d. April 21, 1920. Listed in the 1965 survey. Born in Russell Co., Arkansas, no sign of his grave.

Dessie Whitis - Listed as obituary in the 1965 survey. Born September 21,
1888 and died October 5, 1966. Daughter of Robert Summers. No sign of her grave, may not be buried here.
** (my note: these appear to be the same dates listed for Dessie Fenstemaker. NW)
