King County Cemetery
Guthrie, King Co Cemeteries of Texas
Location: The King County Cemetery is located some three miles east of Guthrie, surrounded by the 6666 Ranch. A very secluded cemetery but well kept. The road out to the cemetery from Guthrie is a dirt road, but signs at "forks in the road" indicate which way to go. It was easy to get there.

About 20 years ago, the cemetery had a barbed wire fence around
it. Livestock got in and knocked over and broke some of the monuments.
Some were repairable but others were not. Someone made new ones
out of concrete and erected them. But spelling mistakes were made
on them. Some of the newer tombstones are extremely fancy with
etched horses, hats, ropes, etc. Van Criswell who must have died
in a motorcycle accident has motorcycle, Royce McLaury has a photoetched
picture of a man on a horse. Many families have put concrete curbs
around their plots. Quite different from the olden days when people
only got a rock. The square monument is in row 10, marks a women
and three of her babies. One lived to age 1, the other two were
twins. The mother and one twin died on the day of the birth. The
other lived a few weeks, long enough to get a name, and then died.
