Eldred Kenneth ‘Boots’ Ray
ODESSA Eldred K. “Boots” Ray, 90, a longtime resident of Odessa,
passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at the Baylor All Saints
Hospital in Ft. Worth, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 9, 1914, in Ada, OK. He married Lucille Thomas May
24, 1939, in Arkansas City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on June 4,
2004. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a longtime employee of
Conoco Oil Co. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion and Second
Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Senior Citizens Dance Club.
He was a very loving, caring and generous man who was loved by all. He
was affectionately called Uncle Booter by all his nieces and nephews. He
always had a smile and hug for everyone.
He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Harrison and her husband, Chuck,
of Azle, TX; brother-in-law, Bill Thomas of Odessa; sisters-in-law, Nina
Hazen of Wichita, KS., and Doris Lands of San Angelo; two grandchildren,
Kathryn Harrison and K. C. Harrison and wife, Holli, all of Ft. Worth;
great-grandson, Devin Russell of Ft. Worth; nieces and nephews, Cindy
Hall of Chinie, AZ., Ronny Ray of Midland, Rocky Ray of Crane and Marsha
Williams of Odessa; and many more loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2004, at
Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Duckett officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
