Dr.
Stanley Eugene Lassa
ODESSA Stanley E. Lassa, O.D., 74, of Odessa, died Wednesday, December
8, 2004. He was born May 6, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Stanley W.
Lassa and Clara Lassa, whom both preceded him in death. He married
Dolores M. Eddleman on November 1, 1950.
Stanley served his country during the Korean War as a Yeoman to the
Commander of the 9th Naval District. After his discharge from the Navy,
he started his college education at Cleveland State University receiving
a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and then furthered his
education at Case Western Reserve with a Master’s degree in Marketing.
At the age of 40, he went back to school and received his Doctorate of
Optometry from the University of Houston. After graduating, he moved his
family to Odessa and began his optometry practice for twenty-eight years
at Texas State Optical which is now Lassa Optical Co.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Dolores M. Lassa; son, Dr. Lawrence
Lassa; daughter; Laura and husband, Gary Callendar; two grandchildren,
Courtney and Brandon Callendar, both of Odessa; and aunt and uncle, Mr.
and Mrs. John Grabowski of Cleveland, Ohio.
He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and
will be missed by all that knew him.
A rosary has been scheduled for Sunday, December 12, 2004, at 7 p.m. at
the Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel. Funeral services have been scheduled
for Monday, December 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
Catholic Church with Father Ed Vrazel and Father Mark Woodruff
officiating. Military entombment with VFW honors will follow at Sunset
Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
