Lucille Ray
ODESSA — Lucille Ray, 86, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away
Friday, June 4, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born Nov. 27, 1917, in Saskatchewan, Canada. She married E. K.
“Boots” Ray on May 24, 1939, in Kansas City, Mo. They recently
celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Lucille touched many lives during her life. She trained many young men
and women to check groceries at Furr’s Supermarket where she was a
checker specialist and manager for 21 years.
She was a very loving, caring and generous lady who always had a smile
for everyone. The meals and homemade goodies she prepared were loved by
her family and friends alike.
She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and
the Senior Citizen Dance Club. She was also a member of Second Baptist
Church.
She is survived by her husband, Eldred Ray of Odessa; daughter, Gloria
Harrison and husband Chuck of Azle, Texas; brothers, Robert Thomas and
wife Ginny of Pueblo, Colo., and Billy Lee Thomas and wife Virginia of
Odessa; sisters, Doris Lands of San Angelo and Nina Hazen of Wichita,
Kan.; two grandchildren, Katie Harrison and fiance John Bobbett and K.
C. Harrison and wife Hollie, all of Fort Worth; and great-grandson,
Devin, age 3, of Fort Worth. She is also survived by her very special
niece and nephew, Marsha Williams of Odessa and Ronny and Diane Ray of
Midland; and many more loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2004, at
Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Duckett
officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
