Bobby J. Mize
ODESSA — Bobby J. Mize, 76, of Odessa, passed away Friday, June 11,
2004, at his residence.
Mr. Mize was born Aug. 1, 1927, in Sweetwater, Texas, to David Monroe
Mize and Ora Smithings Mize. He married Mary Ann Smith on Dec. 7, 1986,
in Odessa, Texas. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, A
32nd degree Mason and a member of the Shriners.
Bobby was also a member of the oilfield Pioneers and was very active in
many civic and church organizations including the R.A.’s, the American
Cancer Society drive and the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed being
part of his children’s activities. He was also an avid fisherman and
hunter.
Bobby is surived by his wife, Mary Ann; two sons, Bobby Lee Guyer and
wife Denyce and George Mize; three daughters, Billie Marie Currie and
husband Jimmy, Juanita Allison and husband Gene and Laura Ann Smith;
sister, Maggie Hilburn; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Fred, A.J., Bert
and Pete; and three sisters, Vera Ellison, Mildred Brown and Opal
Willis.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2004,
at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy
Jones and the Rev. Owen Sharp officiating.
Internment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends fmo 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the
Funeral Home.
The Family request donations to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
And a very special thanks to the staff of Odyssey Health Care and
especially Vicki Thorton.
