Hilburn ‘Mac’ McGaha
ODESSA — Hilburn “Mac” McGaha passed away at the Hospice House in
Odessa, on May 20, 2004. Mac was born in Gorman, Texas, on April 5,
1920, to Jesse and Leora McGaha. He married Thelma Opal McCutchan in
Roby, Texas, on February 8, 1947, and they had five children. He was
preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and was
stationed in the Aleutian Islands and India during that time. Mac moved
to Odessa from Rotan, Texas, in 1953 and worked for the Odessa Spring
and Axle and later was owner of Mac’s Alignment and Brake Service
until his retirement in 1988. Following retirement, Mac worked for his
son at Harlow-Sammons until 2001. He served as a deacon at Belmont
Baptist Church, where he had been a member since moving to Odessa.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma; a son, Lester McGaha and his wife,
Valois, of Odessa; four daughters, Deanna Wauhob and husband, David, of
Midland, Norma McClane and husband, Michael, of Odessa, Debbie Koonce
and husband, Jerry, of Midland and Marshal Munsell and husband, Kenneth,
of Andrews; grandchildren, Tosha Cooney, Jeana Espinoza, Chris McGaha,
Scott Wauhob, Todd Wauhob, Clay Denny, Amer Ard and Ashley Ard; and four
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Juanita
Blackwell of Ranger, Texas, and Jo Nell Johnson of Odessa; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Hilburn McGaha at 2 p.m. Saturday,
May 22, 2004, at the Belmont Baptist Church in Odessa with Bryan Saffle
officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with
Military Honors.

Services have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral
Home.
