Margaret Elizabeth Luckie Herring
ODESSA — Margaret, Mom to three sons and MawMaw to three
grandchildren, has triumphed over pain and sorrow. Freed from the burden
of a harrowing struggle, she has flown with the joy of the just and good
into the waiting arms of her husband, Omar; and her parents; brother;
and sister. They have long awaited her arrival and now, at long last,
may once again savor her apricot fried pies.
A lifelong Methodist, Margaret attended her church faithfully until
recent years when illnesses combined to preclude her doing so. Her bible
studies, with her years of schoolteaching at various levels, enabled her
to live under, and to teach by example, the tenet she unfailingly lived
by, as expressed in St. Luke, Chapter 6, Verse 38: “Give, and it shall
be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and
running over, shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure
that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
Margaret’s sons wish to thank everyone who has stopped by with gifts
and best wishes, both during her struggle and following her departure.
All your kindness touches us deeply.
To the competent and caring staff of Seabury Center and Odyssey
Healthcare we extend our gratitude for your attention to our Mom during
her last months.
Your professionalism and ministrations made our Mom’s journey, and our
transition, bearable.
Margaret is survived by her three sons, Mack Herring , Jack Herring and
David Herring, all of Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens
with the Rev. Terry Tamplin officiating.
