Michael D. Goldsmith

ODESSA — Michael D. Goldsmith was born June 9, 1961, in Odessa to Jim and Jemmie Ray Goldsmith. Mike passed from this life to eternal life with our Lord June 29, 2004. Family and friends find comfort and hope in the knowledge that Mike knew our Savior.
Mike graduated from Permian High School in 1979 and received a Bachelors Degree in chemistry from UTPB. After graduation from college, Mike joined his father as a partner in Action Auto Sales, a family owned business since 1965. He went on to become sole owner and operator of Action Auto.
Mike met Melanie Lindley in 1988 and they married on May 28, 1989 at First Baptist Church in Odessa. Mike and Melanie recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary. Mike and Melanie are the parents of three daughters. Morgan was born May 19, 1992, and the twins, Megan and Makalei February 1, 1997. Mike enjoyed the time he spent with his family and routinely took the girls shopping, to church choir, mission friends and the park.
Mike was an active member of First Baptist Church in Odessa and accepted his call to service through volunteer work at Mission Odessa. He was in the process of obtaining his Masters of Art in Biblical Studies from Temple Baptist Seminary in Tenn.
Mike is survived by his wife, Melanie and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Lindley of Midland; three lovely daughters; his parents, Jim and Jennie Ray Goldsmith of Odessa; a sister, Kristi Jumper, her husband Steve and three nephews from Midland; his paternal grandmother, Mary Pearl Lake of Odessa; an aunt, Bonnie Meegan from Wellington, Texas; and cousins, Scott and Kelli McCall of Odessa, Casey Durant of Midland and Cody Durant of Phoenix, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jemmie “Meme” Shoemaker; his grandfather, N.H. Lake; and his aunt and uncle, Norman and Georgia McCall.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at First Baptist Church Odessa with the Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating. A private family burial service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Steve Jumper, Kevin Jumper, Brian Jumper, Austin Jumper, Scott McCall and Alan Lindley. Services are under the direction of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. The family request any memorials be made to Mission Odessa, 315 W. 8th St., Odessa.
