Viola Hoffman Butcher
KINGSLAND — Viola Hoffman Butcher, 90, beloved mother, Nana and
great-grandmother, a resident of Odessa since 1950, went to be with the
Lord on June 17, 2004. She was born Jan. 2, 1914, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She
married Woodrow G. Butcher, July 12, 1937, in Perry, Okla. They were
married for 58 years.
Viola was a registered nurse who worked for the hospital for 15 years
and retired from Dr. Sherrod’s office after 15 additional years. She
was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by
her husband, twin brother George Hoffman, and brother Ralph Neill.
She is survived by her loving daughter and best friend Judy Washburn and
her most loved son-in-law Walter of Burnet; granddaughters, Lori
Washburn of Lubbock, Lisa Rogers and husband Roger of Tomball, and
Leslie Taylor and husband Jay of Odessa; five great-grandchildren,
Morgan and Mason Rogers of Tomball, Addison, Ashton, and Allison Taylor
of Odessa.
The family will receive friends between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. today at
Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2004 at
Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
