Lester Joe ‘Little Joe’
Norwood
ODESSA — Lester Joe “Little Joe” Norwood a 57-year resident of
Odessa, Texas, passed away Saturday morning, June 26, 2004, at the age
of 80 years in Sherman, Texas, while attending a family reunion.
Little Joe was born in Morris, Okla., September 28, 1923. He was born to
Columbus Asbury and Lola Jane Norwood of Morris, Okla. He was the tenth
child of a family of thirteen children.
Little Joe was preceded in death by his father, mother and 11 siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 54 1/2 years, Nelta Sue Norwood; his two
daughters, Judith Ann Millstid of Fort Worth, Donna Sue Brannon of
Lewisville, Texas; and son, Ricky Joe Norwood of Stockton, Calif.
Brothers, Paul Norwood of Chico, Calif., and Sherman Norwood of Odessa.
Little Joe had a large patronage of customers that he considered his
lifelong friends. He worked for several food chains in Odessa before
starting his own, business, “Little Joe & Son Produce Kings.” He
was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. He loved to sing gospel
music.
The family will receive friends at Hubbard-Kelly funeral Home between 6
p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Services will be held at the First United Pentecostal Church located at
1700 N. Texas. Services will start at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004.
Interment to be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Lester “Little Joe” Norwood will be greatly missed by his loving
family and the many life long friends.
