Mrs. W. K. Murray
ODESSA — Mrs. W. K. Murray died Friday, April 30, 2004, at her Odessa
home. She was 96. Mrs. Murray moved to Odessa in the 1950’s with her
husband, W. Kyle Murray. Mrs. Murray was named Odessa’s Outstanding
Woman of the Year in 1963. She was graduated from Texas Woman’s
University with a degree in art and was teaching in the Iraan school
system when she met Kyle, a rancher in the Iraan area.
Mrs. Murray was born March 4, 1908, in Mansfield, Louisiana the only
daughter of William Randolph Fair and Clara Farmer Fair. She had three
brothers, William Randolph Jr., James and Alfred, all now deceased.
William Randolph Fair III, son of William Randolph Jr., and his wife,
Darlene, of Shreveport, are her remaining family.
Mrs. Murray was an intimate part of her husband’s family. She is loved
and remembered by her sister-in-law, Mona O’Quinn of El Paso, Ann
Johnson of Midland, Sam and Beatriz Murray of Fort Worth, Eddie and
Eddye Gallagher of Fort Worth, Johnny Gallagher of Fort Smith and
Garland and Ginny O’Quinn of El Paso.
The graveside service was at 2 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, in Sunset
Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Owen Sharp of Odyssey Health Care
presiding.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Murray’s caregivers: Frances
Navarrete, Yadira Navarrete, Noema Padilla, Mona Bersoza, Becky Beroza,
Crystal Ortiz and Nurse Annelle.
Services are by Odessa Funeral Home.
