George Kowacich

ODESSA — George Kowacich, 83, of Odessa, Texas, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father, Wednesday, June 23, 2004. He was preceded in death by his father, George F. Kowacich; his mother, Grace Hahn Kowacich; brother, Milliard Kowacich of San Francisco, Calif.; and sister Roseanna Kowacich Miller of Niles, Ohio; and also a grandson, Joshua Kowacich of Beaumont, Texas.
He was born in Wheatland, Pa., September 28, 1920. He served in the U.S. Naval Service in World War II from January 2, 1942, until he received an honorable discharge on December 2, 1946, as a Seaman First Class. George served on the U.S.S. Armadillo and the U.S.S. Gearing. He lived in Odessa most of his life and was a retired welder.
He is survived by his four sons, Nolan Kowacich and his wife, Merrila, of Nixa, Mo., Gordon Kowacich and his wife, Mary, of Beaumont, Texas, Nathan Kowacich and his wife, Gina, of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Daniel Kowacich and his wife, Donna, of Odessa, Texas. He is also survived by one daughter, Rebekah Wyatt and her husband, Kenneth, of Odessa; one brother, Jimmy Kowacich of Mercer, Ohio; and two sisters, Ellen Sharkey of Niles, Ohio, and Betty Haynie of Vienna, Ohio. George was blessed with many grandchildren, Candace Perry, Victoria Perry, Daniel Adam Kowacich, Amanda Toney, and Ashlea Kowacich, all of Odessa, Texas, Becky Pierce of Nixa, Mo., Pamela Wheeler of St. Louis, Mo., Bryan Kowacich of Mesa, Ariz,, Katie Kowacich and Kelly Kowacich, both of St. Louis, Mo., Brandon Kowacich of San Francisco, Calif., and Marina Kowacich, Eric Kowacich, Natalie Kowacich, Nick Kowacich, and Jennifer Kowacich, all of Nixa, Mo.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Clydel Chapman of Northside Baptist Church officiating.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
