Panther
ODESSA — Mike Panther, 87, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away
Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
He was born Dec. 22, 1916, in Ralston, Okla. He retired from Phillips
Petroleum where he had worked as a repairman for 37 years. He was past
president of the Odessa Coin Club. He was also a member of St. Mary’s
Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Mills Panther in 1998;
son, Thomas Panther; brother, Tony Panther; and sisters, Mollie Coane
and Rose.
He is survived by his son, Marlin Panther of Lompoc, Calif.; daughter,
Jody Monica Phelps of Portland, Texas; brother, Phillip Austin Panther
of Bartlesville, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
