‘Ed’ Blanton Sr.
ODESSA — Stanford “Ed” Blanton Sr., 77, passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2004,
at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Nov. 11, 1926, to Roy and Annie Mae Blanton in Coleman County,
Texas. His parents preceded him in death.
He married Mabel Strickland on Jan. 27, 1945, in Coleman. He was a good family
man, very steadfast.
Ed served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Japan. He was a member of A.A.
for more than 24 years, and also the VFW. He retired in 1985 from Dunigan Tool
as a machinist and welder.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Blanton of Odessa; son, S. E. Blanton Jr. of
Odessa; daughter, Margaret Ruff and husband Craig of Aledo, Texas; sister,
Thelma Sides of Coleman, Texas; daughter-in-law, Joy Maples of Florida;
grandchildren, Dr. Kevin Ruff and wife Caryn of Laverne, Okla., Tammy Shelton
and Kerry of Aledo and Terry Blanton and Phil of San Antonio;
great-grandchildren, Cody Collier, Nicolas Collier and Kameron Ruff.
Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset
Memorial Gardens.
Memorials can be made to the Basin A.A. Club and to the American Cancer Society.
