ODESSA — Daisy Vera McCoy, 96, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Seminole Memorial Hospital. She was born on Jan. 21, 1908, in Paint Rock, Texas, to John and Ethel Brown.
She married Tom McCoy in Abilene. To this union, eight children were born. They lived in San Angelo for 22 years before coming to Odessa. She was a waitress for 70 years, 25 of them at the Sands Restaurant. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Odell and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She loved Loretta Lynn, Earnest Tubbs and George Strait. Her favorite TV shows to watch included “Wheel of Fortune” and “Who wants to be a Millionaire.”
To her friends and family was fondly remembered as “Granny Mc.” She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom McCoy, two daughters and one son.
Surviving are sons, Tommy Joe McCoy and wife, Pat, of Seminole, Marion Mann McCoy of Seminole, Jerry Haney and wife, Janie Faye McCoy, of North Richland Hills, Robert Gene McCoy and wife, Donna, of Streetman; daughter, Ethel (Jet) Parks and husband, Dennis, of Odessa; brothers, Norris Brown of Monvia, Calif., Hite Brown of San Angelo; sister, Donna Landers of San Angelo; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home. Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests memorials to the Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch.
Our love and thanks to Pat McCoy and all the employees for all the love and time they gave Granny Mc. while she was in Memorial Health Care Center of Seminole for the last three years.
