ODESSA — Salomon Tavarez, 88, of
Odessa, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at his residence. He was
born on March 11, 1916, in Shafter, Texas, to Canuto and Emeteria
Tavarez.
All his life, he was a laborer working for the U.S. Government surveyors
and Home Building-Wiley Brown Construction.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Sunset
Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 26,
2004, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Father Chavez
officiating.
He was survived by his wife, Carlota Tavarez of Jal, N.M.; sons, Sergio
Antonio and wife, Maria Victoria Tavarez, of Jal, N.M., Luis Armando
Tavarez of Jal, N.M., Salomon Tavarez Jr. of Chihuahua, Mexico, Miguel
Angel Tavarez and William Wroda II of Albuquerque, N.M., Javier Tavarez
and wife, Pricilla, of Jal, N.M.; daughters, Gloria Estella Hernandez
and husband, Alonso, of Presidio, Elizama Velasquez and husband,
Alberto, of Presidio, Leticia Gonzales and husband, Oscar, of Carlsbad,
N.M., Marta Isela Luna and husband, Daniel, of Odessa; daughter-in-law,
Dianna Tavarez of Carlsbad, N.M.; a brother, Roman Tavarez and wife,
Margarita, of Pecos; 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; and
many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tavarez is preceded in death by a son, Juan Carlos Tavarez.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
