ODESSA —
Gonzala Romero Nieto, 68, died Monday, March 23, 2004, at her residence
in Bakersfield, Calif. Mrs. Nieto was a Catholic and a member of St.
Joseph Catholic Church. She was born January 11, 1936, in San Antonio
Del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico, to father, Alberto Romero, and Timotea
Velasquez who both precede her in death.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2004, at Martinez
Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27,
2004, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Joe Uecker officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Martinez and husband, Miguel,
and Gloria Mendoza, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sons, Tomas
Mendoza and wife, Wilda, Paul Mendoza and wife, Shellie, Hector Nieto
and wife, Melissa, all of Odessa; three sisters, Marcela Rivas and Paula
Tijerina, both of Midland, Texas, and Patricia Ruiz of Kalamazoo, Mich.;
five brothers, Fermin Romero, Manuel Romero, Isa Mendoza and Jose
Mendoza, all of Midland, and Domingo Romero of Denton, Texas; 16
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jessie Melendez, Micky Rivas, David Romero, Jimmy
Romero, Sammy Romero, Manuel Romero Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be
Demetrio Rivas Jr. and Jose Cruz Iglesias.
Services are under the direction of Martinez Funeral Home.
