ODESSA —
Helen Oleta Williamson Hughes was promoted to glory and into the waiting
arms of her Savior on March 26, 2004, at her daughter’s residence
where she had been living for the past three years. Mrs. Hughes died of
Alzheimer’s complications.
Helen Williamson was the daughter of Charles Rufus Williamson and Bertie
Ethel Williamson and was born April 30, 1914, in Charlie, Texas. She
married her husband of 60 years, Virgil A. Hughes, on Feb. 9, 1934, in
Grandfield, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother; her parents; and a
grandson.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by three daughters, Sherry Baker, Reba Baker and
husband Oakley and Dianne Warden and husband James, all of Odessa. She
is also survived by seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Blanche Boman of
California, Ruby Jewel Elliott of Louisiana and Bertie Machel and
husband Paul of Oklahoma.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of Second Baptist Church since 1954. She was an
alteration lady for many years at Shop De Los Llanos in Odessa.
Mrs. Hughes was a Christian woman who loved her Savior and family beyond
measure.
Funeral services are to be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Frank W. Wilson
Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Duckett and her grandson, Capt. David
Feeser officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorial may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The family wished to express gratitude to Odyssey Hospice, Annelle
Celander, RN, Micah Ramirez and all the caring aids who helped with
mother.
