ODESSA — Grady Lee Stringer was born
April 28, 1928, in Chillicothe, Texas, and died Monday, March 1, 2004,
at the Covenant Hospital in Lubbock at the age of 75.
Grady was the third son of Rex and Bessie Stringer who preceded their
son in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Bob Stringer.
Grady married Nadine Mount in 1974. In 1986, Grady retired after a
career as a construction engineer with Phillips 66 that took him from
the dusty Panhandle of Texas to the North Sea oilfields and such places
as England, Scotland, Norway, Germany and Belgium. His major
accomplishment was the completion of the Maureen Platform for oil
production in the North Sea. He returned to Odessa to enjoy retirement,
watch football and tennis. He enjoyed his cactus and bluebonnet garden.
But most of all Grady enjoyed doting on his grandchildren and watching
them grow.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine of Odessa; his sons, Grady Lee of
Fort Davis, Martin Stringer and his wife, Sherrie, of Fort Davis;
stepson, David Mount of Miami, Fla.; grandchildren, Jacob Stringer,
