William Kelley Roberson
ODESSA — William Kelley Roberson, 85, of Odessa passed away Tuesday,
March 9, 2004, at the Hospice House. He was born Dec. 4, 1918, to
Charley and Mattie Roberson in Johnson City, Tenn. He was raised in
Paris, Tenn., and played the tuba in the Grove High School Band and went
on to play in an orchestra during the “Big Band” era.
He married Darlyene McCuiston September 4, 1941 in Paris, Tenn. He
enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served as an aviation metalsmith in
Hawaii until 1946.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he and Darlyene moved to
Odessa where they made their home and raised three children.
William and Darlyene were members of First Baptist Church for many
years. He was a 32nd degree Mason at Masonic Lodge 955. He received his
40-year pin in 2003. Better known to co-workers as “Robby” anyone
that worked with him knew his talent with sheet metal to be a work of
art.
He was preceded in death by is parents and wife, Darlyene, in August
2002.
Survivors include his daughter, Judy Heslep; son, Bill Roberson and
wife, Liz; and daughter, Claudia Roberson, all of Odessa; grandchildren,
Angie Crow and husband, Steve, of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Katherine
Nelson and husband, Shawn, of Canyon Lake, Texas, Chris Roberson and
wife, Summer, of Round Rock; and great-grandchildren, Kelly, Casey and
Kevin Crow and Will Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2004, at
Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset
Memorial Gardens.
