Pioneer Dies

LAMESA (Special) - Funeral arrangements are pending at Higginbotham Funeral Home here for Mrs. W. B. McWhorter 82, who died at 5:25 Wednesday, In Medical Arts Hospital.

Mrs.McWhorter, whose death followed a long Illness,was a native of Marshall and came with her husband to Dawson County in 1902. She was a member of the Baptist Church for 55 years.

The McWhorter family has had, a major part in the county's development. Her husband raised the first bale of cotton in Dawson County on his farm four miles east o[ Lamesa. Survivors include her husband: two daughters. Mrs Gus Ragdale and Mrs. Oll Harris, both of Lamesa; a son Murray, of Austin: a brother, M. L Hailey of Harlingen: four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
