Elizabeth Sims Loftus

Stonewall Cemetery

STONEWALL, LA - Services for Elizabeth Sims Loftus, 94, will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Stonewall, La. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath South on Tuesday, December 26, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Reverend Stan McGee, pastor of Salem Baptist Church, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Richard Palmer, Chaplain of Jordan's Crossing Hospice. Burial will be in Stonewall Cemetery.

Mrs. Loftus was born December 4, 1912, in Grand Cane, Louisiana. She was a life-long resident of DeSoto Parish. She passed away on December 23, 2006 at her home, where she had lived for the past 66 years. Elizabeth was a very loving, caring, and gracious lady who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed a life of servitude; whether it was serving a meal to friends or family that dropped in, or, serving the Lord at Salem Baptist Church and in her gracious loving spirit in her every day life. Mrs. Loftus was a pillar in the community and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hub and Berta Sims, her husband, P. J. Loftus, Sr., and her brother, Lloyd C. Sims, Sr.

She is survived by her children, Pat and wife, Linda of Stonewall; and Beth and husband, John Cheatham, of Belton, Texas; two grandsons, Patrick J. Loftus, III, and wife, Susanne of English, Indiana, and James M. Loftus of Stonewall; two granddaughters, Jennifer and husband, John Galysh, of Corpus Christi, TX, and Liz and husband, Willace Johnson, of Lindale, TX, three great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

Pallbearers will be W. J. Boone, Floyd Brown, Mack Gaddy, Bob Russell, Howard Sellers, and Bobbie Roe Stanley. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. J. P. Austin, Mike Baker, Howard Cathey, Claude Duhamel, Charles Leverette, A. W. McDonald, Curtis McCune, and J. D. Penneywell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, the Gideons International, or the charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to thank the many friends and family members for their prayers and visits.
