Helen Jo Martin

Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Stanley, LA

Funeral services for Helen Jo Martin, 79, of Houston, Texas, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2006 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Stanley, with Bro. Dennis LaFleur and Bro. Chris Booker officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Stanley. Visitation was held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport on Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Martin, who was born in Cotton Valley, died on April 29, 2006 in Houston, Texas. She was Director of Nursing for the Harris County Sheriff’s Department in Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Mae Lowery.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter, Donna Williams and husband Don of League City, Texas; son, David Short and wife Patricia of Humble, Texas; sister, Betty Bryant and husband Rueben of Logansport; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Don Williams, Sandy Booker, Glen Booker, Chris Booker, Michael Bryant, Johnny Bryant and Wesley Bryant. Honorary pallbearers were Katherine Short and Kristina Buelna.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Houston Hospice Center in Houston, Texas.
