Mr. Virgil David Mitchell

Cool Spring Cemetery, DeSoto Parish, LA

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Virgil David Mitchell, 84, will be held at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home, Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. Elders Joe Phillips and Perry Miers will preside. Interment will follow in Cool Spring Cemetery, Logansport, LA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday, April 21, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Virgil was born May 12, 1921 in Hurtsboro, AL to the late William Wiley and Sina Lou Mitchell. He went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Willis-Knighton Pierremont Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Virgil was dedicated to serving the Lord and was a faithful member and deacon of Temple Primitive Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Later, Virgil retired from Shreveport Moving and Storage Co. in April of 1996 after many years of devoted service.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Mitchell, Bruce Mitchell and Raymond Mitchell.

Virgil is survived by his wife of 32 years, Doris Horn Mitchell; his daughter, Becky Stewart and husband, David of Natchitoches, LA; his son, Mark Mitchell and wife, Tamela of Suwanee, GA; his stepdaughter, Deborah Ebarb of Shreveport, LA; his grandsons, Kenneth Stewart and wife, Staci, Wesley Mitchell and wife, Valerie, and Kevin, Lars and Trevor Mitchell; his granddaughters, Ceseley Paar and Melissa Ebarb; his great-grandchildren, William Paar and Caris Stewart; his brother, Elmer Mitchell and wife, Jean of Opelika, AL; his special niece, Sarah Aldridge; his sister-in-law, Desiree Mitchell of Longview; and a host of extended family members and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Clarence Teagle, Dr. Paul "Corky" Davis and to the staff of Willis-Knighton Pierremont Medical Center for their compassionate care provided during Virgil's illness.
