Willard Jackson Sibley

MANSFIELD, LA - Willard Jackson Sibley passed on to be with the Lord, Monday, January 7, 2008. He was born in Mansfield, LA to Maudie and W. E. Sibley on February 9, 1931.

He served in the ARMY during the Korean War and was discharged with the rank of Corporal.

Jack, as he was known to his friends worked as a welder and later as a millwright during his lifetime, his last employment being with LA Pacific in Logansport, LA, from which he retired.

Gardening and woodwork were his hobbies. He made many lovely pieces of furniture, and he loved sharing what he grew in his garden with family, friends, and neighbors.

The loves of his life were his wife of 49 years, Linda, and his children and grandchildren.

He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Mansfield, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees for several years.

He is survived by his wife Linda Sibley; three children and their spouses, daughter Barbara and Rick Melton, son Shawn and Joyce, daughter Shirleen and John McCorkle; five grandchildren, Joshua Leatherwood, Jessica Leatherwood, Michael K. Hill, Rayne Sibley, and Christopher Melton.

He also leaves behind brothers, James B. Sibley, of Stanley, W. E. Sibley, Jr. of Coolidge, AZ; sister Sarah Pepmiller of Converse; and various in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a memorial service for Jack at the First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, LA on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Ken Norton will be conducting the service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Mansfield, LA, Building Fund or the Choir Fund. Rose-Neath's Mansfield Chapel, 318-872-4660.
