Elsie Mae McCoy Walker

LOGANSPORT, LA - Elsie Mae McCoy Walker passed away Monday, February 25, 2008 after a lengthy illness. She was born May 1, 1925 and was 82 years old.
Graveside services will be Thursday morning, February 28, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the Stanley Community under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport. Visitation with the family is Wednesday evening, February 27, 2008 between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin M. Walker; a son, Edwin Earl Walker, and her parents, Earl McCoy and Vera Mae McCoy Spillyard.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Stewart and husband Spencer; a son, Jimmy Walker and wife Liz; 5 grandchildren, Stacy Stewart, Seth Stewart, Jennifer Walker, Chrystal Thompson, and Joshua Walker; and 10 great-grandchildren. She, also, is survived by a sister, Elaine Bogan and a brother, Carlton McCoy, along with many more family members and friends.
Mrs. Walker was a life-long member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church serving the Lord faithfully until a debilitating stroke on December 23, 1993. She was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Baptist Women, and served on several church committees.
Her passion was traveling. She toured Europe in 1974 with her sister-in-law, Clemmie McCoy and, together, they made the country's Bicentenial Tour in 1976. Mrs. Walker made many trips with her husband and friends from the East coast to the West.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Stacy Stewart, Seth Stewart, Joshua Walker, grandson-in-law Arthur Thompson and her nephews, Brady Luker, Mac McCoy, Monte McCoy, and Wayne Spears.
