Dorothy Lillian Murchison

SHREVEPORT, LA - Dorothy Lillian Murchison passed away on July 7, 2009. She was born February 27, 1917, in Farmersville, TX to the late Floyd J. and Etta McKee Murchison.

Following her graduation from Texas Women's University, where she received her degree in Education, Dorothy taught school in Farmersville, TX for two and a half years. In 1942 she moved to Shreveport, LA where she worked in the accounting department at United Gas/Pennzoil for 33 years. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church of Shreveport and was a former member of Highland Baptist Church also in Shreveport.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Frances Evans, of Farmersville, TX and Virginia Ann Murchison, of Shreveport, LA; and brother, Floyd J. Murchison, of Farmersville, TX. She is survived by niece, Dorothy Frances Henson and husband, Auby of Sunnyvale, TX; nephews, Tim Murchison, of Dallas, TX and Steve Murchison, of Farmersville, TX; and several great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Kuma and Billy Powell, of Shreveport, LA.

A graveside service will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 10, 2009, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville, TX under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home, of Shreveport, LA and Hurst's Fielder Baker Funeral Home, of Farmersville, TX. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Shreveport.
