Earl Carlton McCoy
STANLEY, LA - Earl Carlton McCoy departed this life on Tuesday, February, 10, 2009 after a short illness. Mr. McCoy was born December 29, 1928 in Stanley, Louisiana where he was a lifetime resident. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his parents, Earl C. McCoy and Vera Mae McCoy Spillyard and a sister, Elsie McCoy Walker.
Mr. McCoy was President of McCoy Bros. Lumber, Co., Inc, founded in 1947. Later, his interests were in land, lease and mineral development. Many people know Mr. McCoy from his membership in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, and his cattle and horse farm. Among his many civic contributions, Mr. McCoy helped establish Stanley Water System and served on the Board of Directors of Mansfield Bank & Trust Co.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Todd McCoy; his sister, Elaine McCoy Bogan, his daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Wayne Spears of Joaquin, TX, his son, Earl Carlton McCoy, Jr., "Mac" and wife Marsha of Logansport, LA. Surviving grandchildren are Dea Henry and husband Kerry of Henderson, TX; Earl Carlton McCoy, III "Monty" and wife Kayla of Logansport, LA; Ali Chandler and husband Jason of Bossier City, LA; Miranda Blount and husband Dane of Logansport, LA. Great-grandchildren include Bartley Henry, Nikolas Henry, Kenzy Henry, Carlton McCoy IV, Jali Chandler, Rylie Blount, Jaret Chandler and Cane McCoy.
The family will receive friends at the Beckham Building, First Baptist Church, 1009 Gum St., Logansport, LA from 4:00-7:00 pm, on Thursday, February 12, 2009. The family memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday at the home of the late Mr. McCoy.
