Mr. Don L. Brown

Shiloh Baptist Cemetery

KEATCHIE, LA - Funeral services for Mr. Don L. Brown, 77, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Keatchie, LA, with Rev. Don Scott and Rev. Billy Flowers officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Cemetery, under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home.

Mr. Brown died Sunday, June 7, 2009 in Shreveport, LA.

Mr. Don Lamar Brown was born March 24, 1932 in the Friendship Community, Shelby County, Texas. He was one of two children born to the marriage of John Thomas "Bus" and Lena Harvey Brown. He graduated Joaquin High School with the class of 1949. Don attended both Texas A&M and Stephen F. Austin University. He married Carolyn Virginia Bagley December 31, 1957 and together they celebrated 51 years of marriage. Mr. Brown served his country through the U.S. Naval Reserve. He worked many years in the oil industry for Wilson Supply, Reed Drilling Tool and later owning and operating his own trucking company. Don served as a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church and the Keatchie Masonic Lodge. He was a man who loved the outdoors hunting, fishing and working at home in his yard. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors: Loving Wife: Carolyn Brown of Keatchie. Children: Don "Donny" Brown, Jr. and wife Renee` of Downsville, LA, Ronald "Ronny" Brown and wife Tonia of Houston, TX, Ellen Day and husband Lindy of Keatchie, LA. Grandchildren: Trey Day, JayDon Day, Natalie, Rebekah, Christopher, MaryBeth, John Thomas and Christian Brown. Also daughter Donna Gingles and children Jason and Erin. Sister: Peggy Jo Bowden of W. Helena, Ark and children Larry Bowden and Pam Brady. Special Cousins: Bobby Bruce Brown and Mary; Nancy Leflett and Bobby. Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers: Robert Harris, Kenny Harris, Donny Leflett, Barry Bagley, Trey Day, JayDon Day, Christopher Brown.

Honorary Pallbearers: Friends from Bible Study: Andy Loftus, Henry Johnson, Billy McFadden, Ronnie Lee, Bob Corley, Huey Speights, Joey McFadden, and Roy Plaisance.

The body will lie in state: 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends: 6-8:00 p.m. Monday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
