SHREVEPORT, LA - The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Maxine Prather Pennywell, 62, of Shreveport, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church #2, 249 West 84th Street, Pastor A.G. Sudds, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Providence Cemetery, Stonewall, La. Viewing of the body will begin at 8:00 a.m. before the service.

God called His child home to rest eternally on Friday, December 26, 2008 after a very lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Lee Smith Prather and Henry Prather, and by her husband, Cato W. Pennywell.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Eleanor Prather of Shreveport and Sheron Ann Prather Coleman (Troy) of Wylie, TX, five grandchildren, Shayla V. Prather, De'Marcus D. Coleman, Amedeus A. Coleman (Little), Ja'Bari' J. Coleman, and Troy 'Kare', T. Coleman, one great-granddaughter, Arianna Shaw, and a host of other relatives, friends, neighbors, and her church family.
