Mr. Lewis, of American Indian decent, went to be with his Lord, Friday, May 22, 2009, following a lengthy illness. He served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII as a special vehicle operator. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. Later, he worked with Beaird Company as a fitter.
Marlon was a loving husband to his wife, Althea Ann "Mickey", for 65 years, and he was loved dearly by his family and his many friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and traveling extensively with his wife. He would have you know that he found forgiveness, peace and unconditional love, before going to meet his Lord in the "great hunting grounds in the sky". There he will meet with his darling wife, "Mickey" under the shade tree.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Marlon J. Lewis, Jr. and wife, Annette; daughters, Joy Ann Lewis and Vedna Lester; brother, Benoyd Lewis; sister, Chris Station; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and extended family members.
The family extends "special thanks" to caregiver, Beth, the loving and caring staff of the Glen, where he resided, and for the compassionate staff, and Dr. del Mundo at Cornerstone Hospital.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be special friends and family. Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside Chapel 687-1256.
