SHREVEPORT, LA - Billie Jean Talbert Camus, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, went home to her Heavenly Father on October 23, 2009 after fighting a courageous and valiant battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Marshall Street on Monday, October 26th. Graveside services will be held in Keatchie Cemetery, in Keatchie LA, at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 27th. Rev. William F. Herrin Sr., Hankamer, TX officiating.
Billie Jean was born on March 31, 1926 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She graduated from C.E. Byrd High School. She served numerous years as a volunteer for Christus Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center, Christus Hospice, and Grace Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Frank Camus, Sr.; her parents, William Bryan and Inez Talbert; nephew, John Worth Perritt, Jr.; and infant daughter, Billie Jean Herrin.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph Richard Herrin, III and wife, Vicki; William Franklin Herrin and wife, Dianne; Judie Camus Boxill and husband, Herbert; and Raymond Frank Camus, Jr. and wife, Debbie; her beloved sister, Judith Talbert Perritt and husband, the Honorable John Worth Perritt; grandchildren, Troy Holmes Herrin, Dr. Sean Bartlett Herrin and wife, Kim, Holly Herrin Ulbrich and husband, Brian, William Franklin Herrin, Jr. and wife, Wanda, Charlotte Herrin Griffith and husband, Tyrone, Tanya Christine Herrin, William Heard Wright, IV and wife, Sandy, Raymond Bryan Wright and wife, Aprille, Jonathan Bradley Wright, Brent Barber Boxill and wife, Jennifer, Chad Harris Creech and wife, Holly, Travis Allen Creech and 15 "precious to her heart" great-grandchildren and life-long childhood friend, Shirley Leabo.
Although our mother gave of herself to everyone, her greatest joy in life was loving and giving to her family. This gift of love will live in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren forever.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to all her doctors and nurses, her very special "Care Team", Rachel Sullivan, Melanie McCune, Sara Sepulvado, Mary Lou Courtney, Dr. Robert Massingill, and Christus Hospice.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Dr. Sean Barlett Herrin, Tyrone Keith Griffith, William Heard Wright IV, Raymond Bryan Wright, Jonathan Bradley Wright, Chad Harris Creech, Travis Allen Creech and John Dykes Leabo.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Herbert John Boxill, Brent Barber Boxill, Troy Holmes Herrin, and William Franklin Herrin, Jr.
