Billie Janette Cone LeGrand
Highland Cemetery, Mansfield
SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Billie Janette Cone LeGrand, 80, will be conducted 10 AM, Wednesday, January 7th at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA with Brother Larry Pridmore of Southside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
Billie entered into rest Sunday, January 4th at Willis-Knighton South in Shreveport. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was born in Charleston, Arkansas June 2, 1929 to Bill and Jettie Cone. She was a great cook and always enjoyed "fixing dinner for the kids". In fact, Billie enjoyed the simple things in life; growing flowers, fishing, cooking, sharing stories over coffee and visiting with her mother. She lost her father at a very early age and was always proud that she was named for him. Her mother and she shared a closeness that everyone could envy and there is no doubt that heaven will be blessed to have them both.
Billie moved with her family to Louisiana during the depression where she eventually met and married her husband of 44 years, James. They found a home in Mansfield and remained there throughout their lives except for her final two years at the Bradford House in Shreveport. Billie was a long-time devoted member of Southside Baptist Church.
Her husband, James, parents: Bill and Jettie and a loving son, Rick preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memories are daughter Mona Hill and husband (Tom) of Shreveport, son Rory and wife (Lisa) of Mansfield, daughter-in-law Paula LeGrand of Elysian Fields, Texas, two brothers: Al LeGrand and wife (Peggy) of Shreveport and Danny Smith of Wylie, Texas, two sisters: Linda Beck of Bossier City and Sandra Beach of Shreveport, four grandchildren: Todd Hill and wife (Belinda) of Shreveport, Kris Hill and fiancée Jacy Jernigan of Bossier City, Amye Megee and husband (Aaron) of Shreveport, Britney Restivo and husband (Dwayne) of Shreveport and four great grandchildren: Dylan, Kaylee, Katherine and Eliza Beth.
Pallbearers will be Todd and Kris Hill, Aaron Megee, Robert Sabaston, Steve Sloan, J.D. "Bubba" Locke and her honorary pallbearer will be great grandson Dylan Hill.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone at the Bradford House who gave her such special attention, to her special friend Raye Gamble who was always there for her, other caregivers who assisted her in later years, to the doctors and nurses that attended her during her final days at Willis-Knighton South and finally to her faithful dog and companion, Angel.
