Judson Louis Hale, Sr.

MINDEN, LA - Funeral services for Judson Louis Hale, Sr. will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday May 6, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Minden. Officiating will be Rev. Wayne DuBose and Rev. Bill Ichter. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday May 5, 2009 at Rose-Neath.

Mr. Hale was born October 31, 1937 at home in Logansport, Louisiana to David Robert and Sybil Sanders Hale. He passed away May 2, 2009 in Seymore, Texas.

Jud attended Logansport School where he was an All-State football player and the District record holder in Javelin. He spent his summers at Boy Scout camps where he attained the honor of Eagle Scout. Jud spent his winters hunting, a passion he had his whole life. He later attended Northwestern State University on a football scholarship and graduated in 1959 with a degree in Accounting. While at NSU, he attended Marine Officer School during the summer. A series of football injuries ended his football and military career. Jud met his future wife Ann April of 1963 in Mansfield and later married on October 3, 1964. He started his career with State Farm as a claims adjuster in 1967 and became an agent in 1972 in Minden where he spent the next thirty-six and a half years helping his policyholders.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Simpson Hale of forty-four years; two sons, Judson Louis Hale, Jr., and William David Hale; one daughter, Melissa Hale Tesnow and husband Dan Tesnow; three grandchildren, Ethan Hale Tesnow, David Andrew Hale, and Jon Patrick Hale.

Pallbearers will be Sammy Gorman, Bobby Grafton, Dr. Tommy Grafton, John Irving, Don McCullough, Harvey Nelson, Glenn Talbert, and Mickey Walker.

Special thanks to Dr. Ralph Baucum, Dr. Chris Earnhardt, Dr. Timothy Talbert, the therapist and nurses with Minden Medical Home Health, and all the staff that cared for Jud at Christus Schumpert, Minden Medical Center, and Town and Country Rehab Center.

In lieu of flowers donations in Jud's memory may be made to the First Baptist Church in Minden, The American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice.
