SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Curlie Carter, age 93, will be held at Winnfield Funeral Home in Shreveport, Louisiana on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Dr. Donald Edwards, Pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Frierson, Louisiana.

Sister Carter was born April 5, 1915 in DeSoto Parish, La. She passed away March 27, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ransom and Coteen Carter, four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors are her daughter, Alma D. Stewart and husband John H. Stewart III; grandchildren, Dr. John Stewart IV (Bridgett) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Deidre Brown (Monte) of Carrollton, Texas, Jennifer Stewart of Alexandria, Virginia, Dana Thomas (Fred) of Desoto, Texas, five great grandchildren, six nieces and numerous relatives and friends.
