Oscar Killian, Jr.
Evergreen Cemetery, Frierson, DeSoto Parish, LA
BENTON, LA - Services celebrating the life of Oscar Killian, Jr. will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Shreveport Community Church with Rev. Denny Duron, pastor of the church officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Frierson, LA. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.
Oscar was born February 4, 1934 in Lubbock, TX to Oscar, Sr. and Viola Fowler Killian and met "the Creator of all Life" October 26, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He was an educator for 34 years in Ft. Worth, TX and Bossier Parish, LA, where he served as a teacher and principal at Greenacres Jr. High School. Oscar loved the Lord, his family and raising cattle, elk and deer on the family farm in Desoto Parish. He touched many lives while on this earth, was a friend to many and mentor to more than we know. Oscar was a member of Shreveport Community Church, North American Elk Breeders, a Shriner, Mason and an ordained Baptist minister.
His first wife, Genie Killian and his parents preceded Oscar in death.
He is survived by his present wife, Virginia "Jenny" Killian; children, Oscar "Chip" Killian, III and wife Deborah, Edward Neal Killian and wife Paula, Judy Ann Killian, Renee Burrough and husband Kenneth and Stephen Smyrni and wife Serena; brothers, Joe Killian and wife Sandra, Bill Killian and wife Margaret and grandchildren, Callie Killian, Daniel Killian, Caleb Killian, Cody Killian, Kameron Burrough, Hunter Burrough and Xander Smyrni.
Honoring Oscar as pallbearers will be Daniel Killian, Caleb Killian, Kameron Burrough, Dave Butcher, Stephen Smyrni and Dr. Eric LeBlanc. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Killian, Hunter Burrough and Xander Smyrni.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staffs of Promise Hospital of Bossier City and St. Joseph Hospice, as well as Dr. Mary Mancini, Dr. Attila Balogh and Dr. Gerry San Pedro.
