Cottage Grove Cemetery, Benton, LA
BENTON, LA - Services for Charles Arthur Stevens, 85, will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Cottage Grove Presbyterian Church in Plain Dealing, LA. Officaiting will be Rev. Kathleen Hignight. Interment will follow at Cottage Grove Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.
Mr. Stevens was born July 9, 1923 in Fulton, AR to Thomas and Lula Pirtle Stevens and died February 22, 2009 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City, LA. He was a member of Cottage Grove Presbyterian Church in Plain Dealing. During WWII his plane was shot down over Germany and he was interned in Sweden for a period of time; he retired after 22 and ½ years in the USAF.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Theresa Stevens and son, Charles Wayne Stevens of Benton, LA, daughters, Sandra Kay Stevens of Benton, LA, Pamela Stevens Combs and husband Carl of Haughton, LA, sister, Phyllis Booras of TX, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
