Mavis Dodson
1925 – 2004

Graveside services for Mavis Dodson, 79, of Mesquite, were held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, October 24, 2004, at Salem Cemetery near Alba, with G.D. Phillips officiating.  Mrs. Dodson died Friday, October 22, at her residence in Mesquite. She was born July 16, 1925, in Alba. Formerly of Alba, she lived most of her life in the Dallas area. She was a housewife and a Baptist. She was retired from the Dallas Independent School District in the food service department.  Survivors include one son, Danny Dodson of Mesquite; one daughter, Judy Cantrell of Mesquite; one brother, C.D. Hill of Tyler; two sisters, Linda Rusk of Alba, and Pearl McLemore of West Monroe, Louisiana; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Novie Lawson Hill; husband, John Dodson; two brothers, Jimmy Carl Hill and Cecil Hill; two sisters, Nevalene Clark Burns and Geraldine Jones.  Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home of Alba was in charge of arrangements.
