Private graveside memorial services for George
Martin Stiles, 85, of Keller were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13,
conducted by a family member. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Alba. Mr.
Stiles died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Keller. He was born Feb. 22, 1919,
in Rush Springs, Grady County, Okla. He graduated from Rush Springs High
School. His career was in the military. He joined the Navy in 1937 and
was on the U.S.S. Tennessee in Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii. He had just
completed his duty two months before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He rejoined
the Army and served for 20 years through World War II and the Korean War. He
retired as a major in 1962, then was a building manager. He had lived in
many places including, Germany, Arizona, Wichita Falls, Dallas, Argyle, Justin
and then Keller. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Georgia
Mae Fletcher Stiles of Keller; son and daughter-in-law, Paul M. and Marquita
Stiles of Keller; one sister, Doris; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert I. and Maude Martin Stiles;
brother, Curt Stiles; and sister, Irene.
