UNION GROVE CEMETERY is an African-American cemetery located in the Union Grove community of San Augustine County, Texas, not far from the City of San Augustine. The cemetery was photographed and transcribed October 2, 2009, by Bob Britnell (misterbob@suddenlink.net) of Lufkin, TX. Contact me by email

DIRECTIONS: from San Augustine, take SR147 south. After you cross US96, go 5 miles on 147 to CR331; there is a sign on the highway pointing to the cemetery. The New Union Grove Baptist Church sits on the corner of 147 and 331; the first four graves listed here are behind this church, and the remainder are in the cemetery about two tenths of a mile further down the dirt road beside the original Union Grove Baptist Church. (FHM) indicates a metal funeral home marker; (VM) indicates a veteran's marker.
