SAUNDERS CEMETERY, San Augustine County, Texas, was photographed and transcribed January 22, 2009, by Bob Britnell (misterbob@suddenlink.net). This cemetery lies halfway between San Augustine and Chireno on hwy 21.
I passed this cemetery many times and never noticed it sitting up on the hill beside the highway. When I entered the cemetery I found the parents of an uncle and other members of his family.

DIRECTIONS: From US96 in San Augustine, go west on SR21 6 miles; the cemetery is on the right, up a slope created when the hill was cut down for the highway.
