OAK GROVE CEMETERY, San Augustine County, TX
Surveyed 22 March, 2006 by Bob Britnell (bbritnell@centurytel.net) and sister, Sandra Britnell.

Oak Grove Baptist Church and cemetery are located in the deep woods in southern San Augustine County. The church is not in use for services at this time; it's being rebuilt due to termite damage. According to a marker at one grave, the first person buried here died in April of 1919; however, some older graves were relocated here from other cemeteries when the dam was built.

Directions: From Broaddus; take FM Rd. 83 east 4 miles to FSR 300E. (Look for the large "Oak Grove Baptist Church" sign on the right) Turn right (south) and go 2.4 miles to FSR 317; (again, there is a sign on the right) turn right onto 317 and go about 4 miles; the church and cemetery are on the left. From Pineland: at the junction of US 96 and FM 83, go west on FM 83 about 14 miles to FSR 300E; turn left at the Oak Grove sign and follow the directions above.

These graves are in a corner of the cemetery; we were told they were relocated from other cemeteries when the dam was built:
