Lee Watkins grandfather was buried about the time of the Civil War. He was buried on the road to Reklaw, on the right side of the road. A slab was over the grave, but lightening struck it, and then they fenced it."

Rusk County, Texas Deed Book P., page 561 shows that John Pruitt deeded to W. F., John R. and Christopher Watkins, for $10.00 one half acre of land, 21 miles Southwest from Henderson in the Henry Kellum Survey--forever to remain as a graveyard and a resting place for the remains of John Watkins, deceased, said 1/2 Acre to be laid off in a square, corners marked with stone columns, the ---of which shall be the marble tomb over the remains of John Watkins. Dated 12 Oct. 1866
