Funeral services for Shirley F. Lindsey, 67, of Greenville were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 5, at Lynch Funeral Service chapel. Internment was held at Simmons Cemetery. Mrs. Lindsey died March 2, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville from multiple health-related issues. She was born Oct. 20, 1938, in Greenville. She was a retired receptionist for the Greenville Housing Authority. Mrs. Lindsey proudly served her country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961 in the Intelligence Department while being stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. She is survived by her son, Ed "Joey" and wife Lea Marlborough of Caddo Mills; one daughter, Jeanette "Jeannie" and husband Bobby Baker of Allen; brothers, Franklin Rachel of Lone Oak, Bob Rachel of Streetman, and Eddie Lively of Emory; one sister, Charlene "Pete" Hackney of Greenville and grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Marlborough, Rebecca and Brian Sheffield, and Matt, Amber and Jared Bbaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Ellen Lively of Lone Oak.
