Mr. P.C. Porter Dead
Mr. P.C. Porter died at his home in the North part of town about 7:30 o'clock
after a short illness of pneumonia and his remains were interred in the Lynch
cemetery in the North part of the county, Thursday afternoon his pastor, Rev.
H.B. Cash of Cumby, conducting the funeral services in the presence of a large
concourse of relatives and friends. Mr. Porter had been a resident of our little
city for about eight or ten months, moving here from his farm in the Lynch
community. He was seventy-three years of age, a member of the Christian church,
a good straight forward citizen and numbered his friends by the score in the
neighborhood where he lived most of his life and reared a large family. He is
survived by the following children, his wife having preceded him to the unknown
world: Mr. R.J Porter, Mrs. J.R. Cunningham, C.E. Porter, W.T. Porter, J.F.
Porter and Miss Vivian Porter, all of this county and Mrs. Mattie Young of
Yantis, all of whom were with him in his last illness. The Leader joins with the
family in extending sympathy to the sorrowing ones. ---Rains County Leader,
